Noblesville boys – Departing Coach John Peckinpaugh
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – (Updated 5/4) Coach Peckinpaugh leaves to take over at Kokomo after two seasons with the Millers. Last year Noblesville finished 11-11. Short term, Noblesville has a legit chance to improve on last year’s .500 docket. Good Varsity Club member reports five of top seven return in cluding top two scorers from last go round. 6-1 sr-2-b guard EJ Smith (12ppg) and 6-3 jr-2-b guard Luke Almodovar (11ppg) are expected back to lead what should be a pretty competitive squad. Several underclass 6-4’s provide some length but a proven post is still a question mark. Strong JV reported, going 14-6 against a tough schedule. Two middle school teams feed into high school. Looking long term, multiple Varsity Clubber report pretty much same story. Sectional is a demon: Westfield, HSE, Carmel, Fishers, and Zionsville. Plus Hoosier Crossroads seldom offers a penciled in W: Brownsburg, Franklin Central, Westfield, Zionsville, Avon, HSE, and Fishers. Great facilities, decent feeder system, and active basketball community. However, winning consistently with this schedule, conference, and Sectional is long odds. Already lots of open teaching jobs – More expected: Several Eled, HS business, HS Art, HS, English, HS Social Studies, HS Sped, Eled Sped. I would be remiss not to mention that Noblesville has been a hornets’ nest for coaches in the past. No real indication if that environment/atmosphere is still in place.
