New Albany boys – Departing Coach Jim Shannon
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – (Updated 2/10) Veteran Coach Jim Shannon announced at the beginning of this past season that this would be his last. Nearly 40 years and over 600 wins (25 years at NA) are a hall of fame legacy for sure. Maybe more importantly to NA faithful, he is 21-12 vs hated Jeffersonville. This year’s Bulldogs, while competitive, have floated around the .500 mark most of the season. One thing that marks this year’s roster as a bit different from typical New Albany teams is that it is not necessarily top heavy with senior leadership. That may bode well for incoming coach. Plus good Varsity Club member reports JV squad is pretty solid. NA has one of the larger coaching staffs around, and plenty of rumors swirling about internal interest. Still others expect external candidates to be in the mix.
