Muncie Central girls – Departing Coach Lisa Blalock
(Updated 4/19) – The Muncie Star is reporting Coach Blalock is stepping away to focus more time on her minestry. Coach went 71-68 in six years there including two Sectional titles.Last year’s season was not one to remember as the Bearcats managed just a 3-21 finish. However, that roster is set to lose just one senior. Only 5 ppg of offense departs, but she was a true inside presence averaging nearly 6 blocks a contest and led team in rebounding as well. Good Varsity Club member reports that around 30 points of offense is expected to return but spread pretty evenly over a roster where no one cracked double digits consistently. Pretty decent jr-2-b class that learned varsity the hard way last season. Varsity Clubber also reports of some kiddos that earned some Varsity time as frosh. Improving last season’s win total or even doubling it very achievable goal. Long term, Bearcats are bubble team going forward: big 3A or small 4A - The former more likely as Muncie school closing several elementariness and facing some tough times. JV reportedly very weak. Good Varsity Club member indicates HS Sped expected as are several ElEd positions. HS SS and art possible.
