DeKalb boys - Departing Coach Rod Cone
DeKALB, Ind. -- (Updated 3/15) Not much on this one yet, but wanted to get it listed. Last year's Barons were 9-12. Varsity Clubber sent in a limited report mentions four seniors graduate. 6-5 sr-2-b Conner Penrod expected back after a season where he made NE8 second team all-conference. 6th, 7th, and 8th all winning groups. No teaching jobs in district right now. (Updated 4/14) Good Varsity Club member reports 4 candidates getting second interviews. One current head coach in Ft Wayne, another well traveled successful head coach not currently coaching, one assistant from a successful NLC school, and an internal candidate that was not on staff but coaching elsewhere. Expect a decision soon. (Updated 4/15) Good Varsity Club member reports rumored names at DeKalb Insight is that former Whitko coach and gentleman Scott Wessel is the in house candidate. He is an assistant with St. Francis women’s team. The former Southmont coach and current assistant at Northridge is Jon Sparks. Rumor is that Luce one of the finalists.
