Mooresville boys – Coach Bobby Carter
MOORESVILLE, Ind. – (Updated 4/20) Coach Carter is retiring after 18 years and over 200 wins with the Pioneers. Last year’s team finished 12-11, bowing out to Brownsburg in Sectional, 60-48. Good Varsity Clubber reports diploma will take four seniors including the Pioneers’ top three scorers, the vast majority of rebounding, and ball handling. A handful of experienced underclassmen are expected to return, but obviously a great deal more will be needed from them. 5-11 sr-2-b guard Zach Woodson (8ppg) was among those that saw considerable varsity time last season as did fellow backcourt classmate 6-1 Ashtyn Holtzclaw. 6-6 sr-2-b Nick Wiley (3ppg, 3 rpg) falls under the same category. Another player of interest is 6-9 sr-2-b center project Dayton DeVaughan. Report continues that this sr-2-b group is interesting enough to be competitive, but questions surround classes below them. JV reportedly just above .500, and what is unique about this squad is that leading scorer honors went up and down the roster on any given night. No NBA’ers, but reportedly a very competitive group. MS teams reported simply as nondescript. Some internal interest expected. HS Govt and Eled opening confirmed, but more expected.
