Goshen boys – Updated 3/19) Brian Bechtel steps down after seventeen seasons as Goshen boys head coach. Last year the freshly named Red Hawks went 10-14. Coach has gone 167-205 during his time in Goshen. Goshen also marks another Northern Lakes Conference opening. Varsity Clubber reports Goshen graduates five players from varsity roster, but only leading scorer Brady Bechtel’s loss will truly impact next year’s squad. Pretty solid sr-2-b to return in 6-2 CJ Detweiler. He led team in rebounding last go round and also dropped in 10 PPG. Fellow sr-2-b Eliot Nafziger is the only other varsity contributor of any significance. Rest of roster will likely be fielded from a host of 2 and 3 PPG scorers and a less-than-noteworthy JV. Twelve 2A and 3A opponents on the schedule will help, but good Varsity Club member reports missing Bechtel’s ball handling will not.
