Lapel boys - Departing Coach Tod Windlin
LAPEL, Ind. -- (Updated 4/21) Now official Tod Windlin's contract is not being renewed at Lapel. Windlin has been one of the more-traveled coaches in our state in recent memory. He has had 6 jobs in 5 years (took a job a couple of years ago, then left for Kokomo girls). He was forced out at Carmel girls, went to Greencastle, then took another girls job east central Indiana, then shortly after took the Kokomo girls job, then Sheridan boys, then onto Lapel boys. All that aside, last year’s Lapel squad was 13-12, losing by 7 in Sectional finals to Monroe Central. Good Varsity Club member indicates that a ton of seniors graduate (8), but that really doesn’t tell the bulldogs’ story. Two varsity frosh started most games last year. Leading scorer, 6-4 guard Brode Judge (10ppg) and 6-6 forward Bode Judge (8ppg) will be likely varsity leaders for the next three seasons. The soph-2-b group was already strong to begin with. Replacing graduated PG may cause some headaches, but very solid JV roster will likely be drawn upon. Report is confident that Lapel has makings of being competitive immediately and Sectional+ contender in the years to come. Strong MS teams reported as well. MS Math opening, but one report that Lapel may stay inside this go round.
