Lanesville girls – Departing Coach Kevin Smith

Lanesville, Ind. – (Updated 2/21) Can now confirm Coach Kevin Smith will not be returning after six seasons (46-92) with the Eagles. Lanesville is one of the more intriguing jobs open in that last year’s roster loses just one senior and just a bucket or two statistically. However, what really makes this intriguing is a very strong group that logged considerable time as varsity frosh last go round. Now less than 6 sophs-2-b played heavy varsity minutes including the Eagles 4 top scorers. Varsity Club member reports that while their 9-16 finish was impressive last year in the wake of playing so many underclassmen, what is really encouraging is that this record was in spite of a 0-5 start to the season. Lanesville Varsity Clubber also points out that this early schedule is front loaded with larger schools and has been a tough stretch for Eagle teams for a while. Varsity Club member indicates this group of sophs-2-b tore it up as middle schoolers and now return 46 points of offense and over 25 rebounds. Best of the youngsters is 5-10 Gracie Adams who went for 17 and 10 per contest. Southern Conference opponents include: pacesetter South Central-E, Borden, Henryville, New Wash, and Crothersville. No teaching positions at this time, but some possible.
