Decatur Central boys - Can now confirm the long rumored opening at Decatur boys. Coach Joe Preda will not be back next year after three seasons (30-34) leading the Hawks. Coach has accumulated 70 wins during his career. Most recently DC went 11-11, and from that batch, 3 seniors depart. The absence of two of those will really be felt. CB Bennett graduates along with his 18 ppg, as does Adam Preda and a team best 5 rpg. Cupboard not bare, however, 6-0 sr-2-b guard went for close to 18 ppg himself last season, and a number of underclassmen logged significant varsity time. The two that garner the most attention both played pretty substantial roles as frosh last go-round. 6-2 SF Damien McEntire and 5-10 G Tyrone Tracy both have Decatur fans excited about the future. Not a ton of height coming along, and Varsity Clubber reports JV expected to provide very little help. No doubt in large part to the stronger frosh and sophs dressing varsity. Multiple teaching areas expected to be available. One Varsity Club member insists this one wants to move fast to fill.
