South Spencer boys – Departing Coach Tyler Phillips
(Updated 7/22) – Coach Phillips departs Reo to take over at Seymour. The Rebels went 31-18 over the last two seasons and captured Sectional this last season. AD Tim Martin told the Spencer County journal that he plans to meet with principal Angie Gladish to determine if there is an open teaching position. Coach Phillips Taught PE, so one could assume that may be there.
“If we have teaching positions available, then we’ll post the position for 10 days and see what we get. If there isn’t an open spot, Martin said the school would look internally to see if there was any interest from the remaining coaching staff or find a lay coach. Good Varsity Club member reports 6-1 Sr-2-b Matt Embry the best of those expected back. Solid guard that can play point. Six seniors depart, but reports swirled about discipline issues off court. Most of that reportedly departs too. Good Varsity Club member reports all lower level teams are pretty poor with the exception of incoming 8th grade. 11-3 last season.
