New Pal girls – Departing Coach Brian Kehrt
(Updated 4/20) – Good Varsity Club member reports Brian Kehrt stepping down from NP position to spend time with family, especially with his youngest daughter playing in college. He leaves with solid support from admin, parents & community. 5 of top 7 were sophomores & freshman, graduated one senior who played significant minutes (although she is the program's #2 all-time leading scorer), JV went 17-3 last year and from what I'm understanding, solid talent all the way through the lower grades. Feeder system is developed with elementary programs playing in travel ball. Good admin support, good community support for coaches and athletes. The primary negative is that New Palestine looks like it will be a small 4A for time to come, but it also has been competitive in the sectional at the 4A level and is in an area that looks primed for significant residential growth in the future. Varsity Clubber indicates this is a really solid job.
