Cathedral boys – Coach Andy Fagen offers a late summer resignation to pursue an assistant position at the college level. Last year’s Irish finished 16-7 and graduate four seniors. All four were huge contributors. ..Including Eron Gordon. There is some decent size returning, and the JV has put up gaudy numbers the last few seasons. Potential trouble comes in a couple of forms. #1 is a freaking nails Sectional. Last year it boasted 5 teams in the top 15. Cathedral, sporting two D1 players, couldn’t make it out. That meat grinder may ease up a little, but will remain one of the toughest in the state. Number two issue is that in order to remain competitive, new Irish coach will have to attract the same caliber that have found their way into Irish unis in the past. One name being mentioned is former Cathedral JV Coach Kristof Kendrick. Kendrick enjoyed a great deal of success during his time at the helm of the JV and has also coached with Indiana Elite Basketball Club. Hard to imagine Cathedral would go with someone without head coaching experience. Apps deadline is 7/29.
