Washington girls – Departing Coach Damon Lee
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – (Updated 3/11)
Washington now officially open as Coach Lee will not be back for a 5th season. Last year the 3A IPS school was 5-14 and struggled to score points. Good Varsity Clubber does note that there is some optimism for the Continentals. Only one senior and 4ppg depart, so virtually everything is back including 5-9 jr-2-b all-city forward Malaysha Flanagon. Her 17ppg and 8rpg 6spg easily led the way for Washington. Beyond her, it gets rough. Report states that a ton of underclassmen saw varsity time over the year, but none made much of an impact. ..Except in the turnover department. Ball handling will again be a challenge facing the new coach. The Continentals’ schedule is an odd one in that it features some real dogs that are virtual guaranteed wins every season, but also features some high octane opponents that would be a tough go even on loaded years. All told, report states that besting last year’s 5-win mark is probable but .500 would be a real victory.
