Perry Central girls - Departing Coach RT Elliott
LEOPOLD, Ind. -- (Updated 2/24) Now official that Coach Elliott will not be returning after five seasons (33-82) with Perry Central. Last season the Commodores went 6-17, finished middle of the pack in the Patoka Lake Conference, and fell in the first round of the Sectional. Good Varsity Club member reports that he wishes he could paint a rosier picture for next year’s Perry squad, but the reality is that just about all the offense graduates - as does rebounding and ball handling. While improving on last year’s 6 wins may be a tough go, report does point to a group of 5-6 sr’s and jr’s-2-b that did gain considerable varsity experience last year. The troubles is that none of these players turned that time into more than a bucket or two a game. Looking down the line, though, things may be turning up for the Commodores. Last season’s JV squad fought their way to an 11-7 mark. However, the real excitement in Perry County comes from incoming Frosh class. This most recent season ended in a county championship and a 21-1 record. Seventh grade has a few that will likely play varsity as well, and the sixth grade group, while not long on height, also had a very strong season going 12-2. Early teaching openings include: HS Business, Eled, Sped, and HS English.
