Eastern Hancock girls – (Updated 6/11) Coach Jeremy Powers is moving into administration and taking an administrative position at North Decatur Elementary. The Royals were 59-29 in his 4 years and the most wins in a 4-year span in nearly 15 years. Good Varsity Club member reports EH returning 90% of scoring and losing 1 senior (Shelby Mourey; 5.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, and 4.3 spg.) Emiley Carlton (junior) is leading returner with 13.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and 2.8 spg Also returning are 3 other starters to go with Carlton: Junior Kaysi Gilbert (7.8 ppg), Junior Shelby King (6.8 ppg), and Junior Leah Ferguson (6.3 ppg.) Senior Hope Spaulding (8.1 ppg) likely moves into the starting lineup. Junior Peyton West (4.3 ppg), Junior Caitlin Richmond (1.3 ppg), Sophomore Micah Black (2.1 ppg) also return. Incoming freshman Haley Best will make an immediate impact with the varsity. Varsity Clubber goes on to report cupboard is not bare in program as every team except 6th grade last year had a winning record. Triton Central and Shenandoah in Sectional will make for some tough competition but the three teams (including EH) should be the clear cut favorites. Another good Varsity Clubber indicates Enrollment-wise, they compete well in the Mid-Hoosier Conference. Very good community, people tend it to be very supportive of their teams, yet patient with coaches. AD is the boys basketball coach, principal is a former varsity football coach, and they're very, very strong pro-community, pro-school people. It's a very good, close-knit community.
