Franklin girls – Departing Coach Walt Raines
Updated 1/9 Longtime Coach Walt Raines has announced he is stepping away after 28 years and over 330 wins with the Grizzly Cubs. Coach will be staying on as MS AD/Dean. Franklin finished 9-15 this last outing, but graduate only one senior. Trouble is that senior was also the leading scorer at 14 ppg, and tops in assists, plus most contend the glue that held things together. A handful of decent underclassmen return, but good Varsity Club member reports 500 would be a nice season next year. Reports of more ridiculously good middle school teams coming up, but what else is new at Franklin. Indications are there will be a strong push for assistant coach Brian Ferris.
