Elkhart Memorial girls – Departing Coach Steve Scott

(Updated 3/28) – Now confirmed that Coach Steve Scott will not be back for a seventh season with Memorial. The Chargers were 73-60 during his time there, and Coach Scott has put together a 174-143 record during his 14 year career. Last year the Chargers were 13-10 and return virtually the entire team. Varsity Clubber reports only one senior departs with 10ppg and 6rbs. Report goes on to state that this could be a very solid team next year. One point of interest is how the younger returning players’ contributions grew as the season progressed. So much so that the departing senior’s contributions became less depended upon. About 37 ppg return as does some solid guard play and a front line that has garnered varsity on-the-job training. Of note is sr-2-b post Kambria Dale and sr-2-b point Sierra Peete. Another potential difference maker is 5-5 jr-2-b guard Ay’zyana Billings-Tiller (hoping I copied this name right from report) She has already logged substantial varsity time as a frosh and soph. Downside is that JV and Frosh teams all posted rough W/L records last season. Teaching positions are lean at this time (AG and temp Spanish) but more are expected later in spring. This job is expected to garner quite a bit of attention
