Mishawaka boys – Departing Coach Ron Hecklinski
MISHAWAKA, Ind. – (Updated 3/10) Now officially open. Coach Hecklinski was 66-49 during his five seasons with the Cavemen. Coach has won over 400 games during a career that has spanned 30 years. Last year’s Mishawaka squad finished 13-10 including a first round 3-point loss to eventual Sectional runner-up Michigan City. The Cavemen also finished mid-pack in the Northern Lakes Conference (Wawasee, NorthWood, Warsaw, Plymouth, Goshen, Concord, and Northridge.) Varsity Club reports point to two seniors graduating – two of which were contributors. However, report indicates optimism to at least match last year’s record as 5-9 sr-2-b guard Arthur Jones is expected back as team’s leading scorer. Plus 6-4 post Tommy Harringer leads a pretty decent jr-2-b class, several of whom logged substantial varsity time last go round as sophs. JV about .500 Several teaching openings expected at all levels, but as of now Varsity Club reports only Eled official. One name speculated is Chadd Blasko - Mishawaka GV.
