Scottsburg boys – (Updated 5/6) Good Varsity Club member reports Final three to meet with school board Monday are Scott Matthews, Brent Jameson, and Eric Richardson. Board is expected to make hire official at Tuesday's scheduled board meeting. Another Varsity Club report suggests the two most frequented names mentioned are : 1. Scott Matthews (Charlestown Assistant, former Clarksville and Austin Head Coach) , who was hired at Austin years ago by current Scottsburg Superintendent Dr. Marc Slaton. Matthews also has a son and daughter that play high school basketball that are varsity starters at their current school. …And 2. Eric Richardson (who was assistant at Hanover , former asst at Gardner-Webb, and Scottsburg resident. Has had deep ties, reportedly loyal to school and community. If Richardson is hired, he does not need a teaching opening to go along with job. Brent Jameson (JV coach at Seymour)- Could be the dark horse. This is where it gets a little strange. Varsity Clubber suggests the possibility that admins may want one candidate and board may want another. Could there be a compromise? Could the top 2 candidates be enticed to be on the same staff. Report goes on to suggest not to be surprised if Richardson is offered job and Matthews is offered assistant (with teaching job) or other way around.
