Blackhawk Christian girls -- Departing Coach Becki Carman
Updated 3/6 -- Can now confirm Blackhawk is open. Coach Becki Carman will not be returning after two seasons (26-24) leading the Braves. Good Varsity Club member close to program reports seven girls saw playing time most varsity contests, with six seeing the most minutes. Of those key players, three will be departing as seniors. Trouble is those three were the team’s leading scorers – each going for about 10 a game. What’s left from last year’s 12 win squad is only about 9 ppg. Two jr’s-2-b and three sophs that logged limited varsity minutes last year will likely make-up the bulk of incoming coach’s plans. Scoring will likely be the least of new coach’s worries, as Varsity Club member reports Blackhawk loses all proven ball handling as well. He points out that the Braves return virtually the same amount of turnovers per game as they will points. Another complication rests in what reports call unrealistic expectations of families that attend Blackhawk. Reports specifically points out that because they attend 1A private, there is an expectation that they should roll over their public small school brethren. This may be compounded by next year’s prospective struggles. Another Varsity Club reports JV was regularly blasted last year. No teaching openings known at this early date. Some word of possible internal interest, but not yet verified.
