Blackford boys – Departing Coach Grant Newlin (Interim)

HARTFORD CITY, Ind. – (Updated 5/24) Coach Newlin guided the Bruins to 25 win season and a semi-state birth behind phenome Luke Brown and his 31 points. Lost to some out of the area was a pretty solid group of seniors that went around him. All that is gone as is likely any 20-win season for the foreseeable future. 6-3 soph-2-b guard Jack Wors is no longer on the roster, and the younger Hoover who left when Coach Hoover and asst Coach Dad left is playing for Frontier. With homegrown Hartford City boys in the program now, the Bruins look ahead to an 8-13 JV, a 5-7 8th grade, and a 7-6 7th grade group. Perhaps the internet tsunami that has rolled along with this program the last few years is gone too. With the timeline moving fast (Apps deadline 5/24 and intvs 5/28-6/3,) Varsity Club speculation points to Grant Newlin sticking around. If that is not the case, Blackford has plenty of jobs to work with: HS Science, MS PE, Eled, HS Sped, HS Comp Tech, and HS Industrial Tech.
