Wheeler boys – Departing Coach Nick Smith (interim)
VALPARAISO, Ind. – (Updated 3/14) Assistant Coach Nick Smith picked-up from Steve Baumgartner 13 games into the season. Bearcats. Wheeler finished 2-21 and was only competitive in a handful of those contests. However, there is some sense that the sun may soon shine on the Bearcats fortunes. Good Varsity Clubber does indicate that 1st team all-conference sr-2-b Austin Goodrich is expected back as is honorable mention 6-7 sr-2-bDrake Simatovich. Looking down the road a bit – 8th grade was undefeated this past season. A Sectional or Greater South Shore Conference title is probably a bridge too far next season but progressing win totals the next few seasons is very realistic. Teaching areas still unknown.
