Anderson girls - Departing Coach Shannon Cleckley
ANDERSON, Ind. -- (Updated 7/13) Anderson opening now official. Coach Cleckley will not be returning after seven seasons with the Indians. Most recently the North Central Conference member finished 9-15. Good Varsity Clubber reports that although several seniors graduated last spring, Anderson’s top five players last season were underclassmen. A solid combination of front court and back court (now veteran) players should be back. That’s the good news. Trouble brews in the area of ball handling where the Indians routinely turned the ball over nearly 25 times an outing. In addition, although just about all scoring returns, this roster had a tough time hitting 40 ppg on a consistent basis as no one really ripped-up the nets. Still, with what is on deck, besting last season’s 9 wins is well within reach, and a Sectional title is not beyond measure. Varsity Clubber does mention that Anderson, as a school, is pretty much a mess in many capacities. Just about every teaching area is open at this time. (16 between HS and MS + 7 more Eled)
