Decatur Central girls - Departing Coach Daryl Gibbs
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- (Updated 2/24) Now reported that Coach Gibbs will not be returning after 6 seasons (56-80) with DC. Last year's Hawks were 8-15 and a 7th of 8 Mid-State Conference finish. Good Varsity Club member reports six senior graduate, but only a handful were true contributors. What really makes matters complicated is the fact that the Hawks were already offensively challenged. Report goes on to state that noby in uniform could be counted on to hit double figures on a consistent basis. One bit of good news for incoming Coach is the expected return of last year's leading scorer, 5-7 senior-2-b guard Cadence Thomas (9 ppg.) However, that's about it. While report indicates several good athletes expects back, it has not translated into varsity production as only about 12 ppg expected back beyond Thomas. JV simply described as awful. Report indicates no shortage of teaching openings with more expected for fall. At present, openings include: MS Sped, MS Science, Eled, MS Math, HS Business, HS Math
