Harry Farmer, unsung hero of 1946 Anderson state champions

[Harry Farmer didn't score a point in Anderson High School's final two games of the 1946 Indiana state basketball tournament.

But without Farmer, the Indians never would have won the state championship.

In the semifinal against Evansville Central at Butler Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indians standout "Jumpin'" Johnny Wilson fouled out. That's when Coach Charlie Cummings called on Farmer.


Cummings assigned the strapping senior to guard Evansville Central star Joe Keener, who had given Wilson fits throughout the afternoon game.]
