Had a great time yesterday watching the opening rounds of the Graber classic at North Daviess. Always great to get back in the old gym, which is a great place to watch a game. 6 of the 8 teams are ranked somewhere so made for some interesting matchups. Highlight had to be the last game of the evening, South Knox and Barr Reeve. SK emerged with the lead for almost all the second half and almost pulled off the upset. Barr Reeve won the game on a 3 point shot with 5 sec. remaining. SK missed a half court shot at the buzzer. GREAT crowd for the last game with the feel of the old time "Hoosier Hysteria".
Old Cougar (if you read this) you'll appreciate that I ran into former coach J.O. and some of my former players M. Burkhart and the two Chestnut boys. Enjoyed talking basketball and sharing some old stories (most of them true) with the guys.
Second round of the tourney is Friday with final games Saturday. This is a well organized tourney with all "smaller" schools (largest enrollment 574). Gym is large enough (seating around 4200) and plenty of parking. I encourage those looking for an old school basketball fix to make the trek to Daviess County to take in this one.
