[Franklin Central High School athletic director and head football coach Burt Austin says he has been fired this week following 11 weeks of administrative leave with pay. The Franklin Township Community School Corporation (FTCSC) is investigating Austin for allegedly intimidating and putting a student-athlete's health at risk during a squat workout in the weight room.
“They didn't find me guilty of any of the allegations,” Austin told Eyewitness Sports in a phone interview. “It's a political move on their part.”
Austin says he was told by FTCSC board president Scott Veerkamp that the board sided 3-2 to relieve him from his athletic director and coaching duties while meeting in executive session (private) Tuesday evening.]
