[A former Bethel College basketball star will return to the area, this time as the new boys basketball coach for Riley High School.
South Bend Community School Corp. officials Monday announced they hired Eric Brand to replace longtime coach Mark Johnson, who resigned earlier this year after he complained administrators and a school board member had meddled with his coaching.
Brand, a Bloomington native who played at Bethel from 1996 to 2000, holds Bethel’s career and single-season scoring records.
He went on to play professional basketball in Austria and Australia.]
