Thank goodness. C incy Princeton player formerly committed to Syracuse is opting to head to the G league instead of playing college ball for a season. (note that I did not say go to school for a year because most only go the first semester).
On the flip side I watched Bilas state that anyone who says "some kids do not belong in college" is racist. I laughed as I thought of all the white kids along with black, yellow and purple kids I have talked to about trade school, apprenticeship, military service and entering the job force as they did not want to attend college or did not have the grades and SAT scores to get in. I must be racist for telling kids that college may not be the best place for them. I think Bilas is dead wrong. Not all kids want or need to go to college. NOT TELLING them they have a choice is irresponsible in my book.
Glad the kid decided to make some money while waiting to fulfill the NBA prerequisites for the draft. Bilas complained about him having to carry his own bags, ride busses and pay for meals and an apartment. Jeez.
They should not go to college if they do not want to . HS kids should be free to graduate and pursue a job if they want. If the NBA has a rule they can't that is not the NCAA's problem. As the G league becomes more competitive then that opens the door for those guys who want to go....
