Shameful indeed - Evansville Lincoln Lions schedule from 1942. (Evansville's segregated high school) Even during a time when travel was supposed to be limited by war rationing, the Lions were forced to drive past scores of white schools that refused to play them on the basis of race.
I often times find myself waxing nostalgic about the golden age of Indiana high school basketball. Wistfully wishing how I could've experienced a time when every hamlet had their own squad and Sectional fields had 12+ schools. However, I am 100% glad I did not grow up in a time like this schedule represents. The good old days weren't always good.
