With Schilling being added to the IU staff, I wonder what his relationship is with the high school coaches in Indiana.
I recall he was among the most despised high school coaches on this board with the Champions Academy recruiting pipeline to Park Tudor. Other message boards were about the same. I know there were a lot of happy people when Broad Ripple beat them in the Sectional in what turned out to be Schilling's last game at Park.
If indeed that carries over, is he really the best choice for the "local" guy on Archie's staff?
That being said, is the reputation different among the larger schools in the major metro areas that will produce most of the Big Ten caliber athletes. Given the virtual free agency that exists in Marion County (and I think in some other metro areas), is the Park Tudor recruiting not held against in him in those circles, which is where he really needs to succeed?
I follow high school basketball, but I'm really not connected with a lot of coaches.
Does the love of IU by coaches (especially in rural areas) in this state overcome any distaste they may have had for Park Tudor winning those 2A championships? If he can pull in Romeo are all prior sins forgiven?
I'm genuinely curious as to everyone's thoughts.
