Some words I wanted to share from Mark Stephens. He will be announced as an assistant coach at the D1 college level before long, and in the meantime wanted to pass along this information:
Crispus Attucks is going to open the girls job for 2weeks for applications, I would love to try to get someone in who loves the game but most of all helping kids. I have spent the last 5 years of my life devoted to helping change a culture that I would like that it not just goes down the toilets.
Junior PG 5'5 Mikia Keith already has D1 scholarship offers from Evansville, Indiana State, and has high interest from over a dozen more 10.5 ppg, 5.0 apg, 3.0 rpg
Seniors Wing 6'0 Chyna McMichel 9.8ppg, 5.5rpg and 5'6 Combo Guard Lauren Shepherd 11.8ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.1apg has D2 interest and a NAIA scholarship
Seniors 6'3 Charese Cook 4.3ppg, 2.4rpg and 5'7 Shay Harper 6.6ppg, 2.0rpg, are D3, NAIA kids
We also have a really good junior. Teague Brewer 5'10 Wing - 6.6ppg, 4.0rpg
A 6'5 freshmen and a 6'4 Junior that the both of them just need work and time on the floor.
My goal was the first ever Regional or Semi State Appearance for girl’s basketball this season a long shot but still a goal.
Every kid on this list has over a 3.0 GPA
Any help you could be in getting the word out to find a good "person then a coach" would be appreciated. These kids deserve someone who cares about them and not just someone who coaches to collect a pay check like most IPS school teams have. I love that place and those kids and hate for it to go down the drain.
