Princeton guard Jackie Young scored 39 points last night against Pike Central to eclisp Bedford North Lawrence icon Damon Bailey as the top career scorer in Indiana High School history!
Her 14th point last night gave her 3135 points and she finished the night at 3160.
I've seen her play maybe a dozen times in person. She's as good as anyone on the girls side I've ever seen - and I've seen most of the best thus state has produced over the years. She is certainly among the best to ever lace up sneakers and dribble, shoot, and rebound a ball on the hardwood floors of gyms in this state! Boys or girls!
What is so great about her is she is very - probably too - unselfish. Constantly passing to teammates who are capable of scoring maybe 1/4 of her capabilities. She is even keel in her demeanor, she plays hard, she can shoot AND she can score - two very different things. I hear she is a good student and I've heard that she is nothing but loved and admired by those in her school, community, and even opposing schools and communities (although my guess is they are very happy to see her donn the cap and gown come June!)
