Hamilton Southeastern boys - Departing Coach Brian Satterfield
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- (Updated 4/14) Coach Satterfield takes over the girls program at HSE opening the boys after 20 years and over 300 wins with the Royals. It's tough to discuss this positions without first addressing the Royals' schedule which typically is among the toughest in the state (Last year 4th toughest in Indiana.) Hoosier Crossroads Conference does not allow for a night off with Fishers, Avon, Brownsburg, Franklin Central, Zionsville, Westfield, and Noblesville. It should be pointed out that HSE has been a leader though, winning nine titles under Coach Satterfield. 4A Sectional 8 is only worse as Carmel is added to HCC foes Fishers, Noblesville, Westfield, and Zionsville. Good Varsity Clubber reports that last year's 12-11 group was actually far stronger than what their record indicated due to schedule situation already addressed. The same could be said for several past HSE teams as well. Varsity Clubber points to the Royals' sheer numbers to draw upon, an active, well-organized feeder system in place, first class facilities, large coaching staff, avid following, and a school system that values athletics as true positives. The short term may be tough going as another good Varsity Club member indicates HSE graduates the kitchen sink. How about 50 ppg in the form of seven seniors that saw routine varsity time. HSE is expecting several teaching openings in which to work with. However, Varsity Clubber is quick to point out that this is a school (system) that is quite comfortable with hiring from within. Coach Satterfield being a prime example. No timeline yet in place.
