20th ANNUAL BOARS NEST COACHES CLINIC 2021-2022 OCTOBER 23
It’s that time again! I can smell the sweat in the gym and the popcorn popping!! I have gathered the best bunch of basketball junkies I could find! What more in life do we want more than a bunch of friends sitting around talking hoops on a Saturday afternoon?
We have a great line-up of speakers and I can’t wait to steal from some of the best coaches in the state. After the coaches speak feel free to hang out and stay as long as you want. Just a reminder the bar/restaurant only takes cash (no credit cards). Please feel free to bring your assistants and invite other coaches!! This is a FREE clinic, no registration, just show up!
The following coaches will be our featured speakers:
12:10-1:00 pm Coach Drew Schauss – Head Coach at Avon HS. Entering his 1st season as the Orioles head coach with an overall record of 20-26. The previous 2 seasons he was the head coach at Logansport HS. Leading the Berries to the 2021 Cass County Championship. Coach has held college assistant positions at John Brown University, Holy Cross College and Bethel University. He was an outstanding player at Brevard College and Bethel University for Hall of Fame Coach Mike Lightfoot. Topic-Packline Defense-From the Ground Up.
1:10-2:00 pm Coach Matt Moore-Head Coach at Warsaw HS. Entering his 2nd season as the Tigers head coach, they are coming off a 15-8 season and Northern Lakes Conference Championship. He is entering his 8th year as a High School coach with an overall record of 104-66. Coach has had stops at Fishers HS, Kokomo HS and was the head coach at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University from 2009-2014. He also held coaching positions at Grace College and Logansport HS. He played college at Grace for Hall of Fame Coach Jim Kessler. 2:10-3:00 Coach Josh Thompson**-Head Coach at Barr Reeve HS. Entering his 4th season as the Vikings head coach with a record of 80-6. He has led the Vikings to 3 Sectional Championships, 2 Regional Championships and the 2021 State Championship. Coach was IBCA District 3 Coach of the year and an Assistant Coach for the Junior All-Stars. He is entering his 15th year as a head coach with an overall record of 190-162. He led Wood Memorial to Sectional Championships in 2015 and 2016 and has also been the head coach at Vincennes Lincoln and Springs Valley. Topic-Viking Basketball: All the Little Things and How We Do It. Youth/Feeder Program and Favorite Drills.
3:10-4:00 Coach Cary Cogdell*-Head Coach at Leo HS. Coach is 240-152 in 18 years with the Lions. They have won 2 Sectional Championships and were State Runner-Up this past season! Overall in his 20th year he is 251-182. He was the head coach at South Adams for his first head coaching job from 2002-2003. Topic-Practice Planning and Adapting to Your Personnel/Opponent.
