Looking at the enrollments of the 16 teams that made up the regional field for class 4A this year.
14 of the 16 were among the top 50 schools in the class. All had enrollments of 1700 or more students. The two outliers were East Chicago Central (1175/#89) and Connersville (1112/#97). Connersville came out of a sectional where none of the schools had and enrollment above 1500.
Somebody please explain to me again how 4 class basketball fits the IHSAA idea of a fair system and why there is no need to create a super class. There are 64 schools with enrollments above 1500. Even with the IHSAA's limited capacity to deal with numbers not divisible by 16 one would think they could figure this out.
