Drove down for the Brownstown Central - Evansville Reitz matchup and sure glad I did, one of the best games I've seen in a while. Brownstown may be my favorite program right now. They run a system offense similar to the one Gibson Southern used in the 90s and are as quick and aggressive on defense as anyone in the state. They handled Reitz's pressure a lot better than Reitz handled theirs and led most of the night. Reitz only tied the score with 4 seconds left to force the first overtime. Brownstown's six-foot point guard, Carson Lambring, really hung tough and was essentially the reason his team won. (That and the dozen or so threes they hit.) He picked up his fourth foul with six minutes to go in regulation, never sat, and never fouled out thru four overtimes. Also, something I've never seen: At the end of the fourth OT, Brownstown was up 2 and had the ball out of bounds with 00.4 seconds on the clock, game basically over. That didn't stop Reitz's Isaiah Dunham from drawing an intentional foul on the inbounds play. (They didn't shoot the free throws.) Then, his brother Elijah picked up two quick technicals and an ejection – all after time had expired and the game over. Good crowd on hand, great time.
