Projecting ahead, let’s take a look at the tournament trail for the
teams shown above—grouped by the four regional areas:

Northwest Regional:
Sectional 18 will include #16 Culver Academy. Meanwhile sectional 19 will include #2 Mishawaka Marian, #8 Glenn, and #15 South Bend St.Joe.

Northeast Regional:
#11 Northwood is assigned to sectional 21. Sectional 22 will bring together #17 Ft.Wayne Dwenger and #18 Leo. #20 Norwell should lead the way in sectional 23. Meanwhile, sectional 24 will host #13 Yorktown.

Southeast Regional:
Sectional 25 will include #6 Danville. #10 Northview will go to sectional 26. Sectional 27 should headline #4 Brebeuf and #19 Lebanon. #12 Indianapolis Ritter is the only ranked team assigned to sectional 28.

Southwest Regional:
Old rivals Connersvile (#5) and Greensburg (#7) will again headline sectional 29. Sectional 30 will possibly match up #9 Silver Creek and #14 North Harrison. #3 Sullivan is the only ranked team at sectional 31. Likewise, #1 Evansville Bosse is the only ranked squad headed to sectional 32.

Now, here’s a closer look at the Top 5 teams in 3A. Unless stated otherwise, all
players are seniors. Those 6’ 3 or taller have their height mentioned, if known.
Scoring average is shown in parentheses. Rebound and/or assist average is also
shown where known and relevant.

01._Evansville Bosse:
Ever since class basketball was instituted, the Bosse Bulldogs have been a fairly consistent and successful team when it comes to post-season success. Specifically, they've won 10 sectional's, 6 regional's, and 3 semi-states. What has eluded them is the big prize--the state 3A title.

Next year, they appear to have an excellent nucleus to reach their ultimate goal. Just about all of the key performers from last year reportedly will return. That's the good news. The bad news is that last year's squad had a very strange season--to say the least. They won their first 14 games---and then lost 8 of their final 9 games! So, which team will show up this coming season? That's the big question.

Returning for Bosse is 6'3 Julian Norris (16.9, 5-r), a Junior All-State selection last year.
Helping him out again should be Matt Wagner (12.8, 5-r), Dredon Nunn (11.0, 5-r), 6'4 Jameer Ajibade (9.7, 5-r), and soph Taray Howell (7.7).

Bosse is the only ranked team in their sectional. Should they get to the regional, there's a good chance three other ranked teams will join them.

02_Mishawaka Marian:
Two years ago, Marian won a sectional title but, like 63 other teams didn't get a chance to advance further due to the pandemic. Then in last year's title game, they faded down the stretch and were edged by a good South Bend St.Joe squad--a team they had defeated just three weeks earlier.

The main core of Marian's squad will return and will be seeking redemption. The two mainstays are 6'3 Richard Brooks (15.3) and junior Deaglan Sullivan (14.7). The latter was a Soph All-State selection last year. Also returning should be 6-4 Kaleo Kakalia (6.0, 6-r) and 6'3 junior Darson Thornton (4.0). A sectional title will again be a tough chore for the Knights. Not only will St.Joe stand in their way again, but what should be a strong John Glenn squad will be attempting to break through as well.

03_Sullivan:
Last year, the Golden Arrows won their first sectional since 2010. They then suffered a heartbreaking 3-point loss to a tough Connersville squad in regional play. Given the nucleus that is returning for Sullivan, they are certainly justified for aspiring to loftier goals next season.

Returning for Sullivan is Randy Kelley (17.2, 5-r, 5-a)--a Junior All-State selection last year. Also returning should be 6'6 Jackson Hills (15.8, 9-r), Rocco Roshel (7.9), and junior Luke Adams (5.3). Sullivan is the only ranked team in their sectional. If the y repeat there, they'll again encounter a power-packed regional which, among others, might include top-ranked Evansville Bosse.

04_Brebeuf:
Brebeuf won a sectional in 2020 but was unable to advance further due to the pandemic. If not for that shortened tourney run, they've not won a sectional since 2016. In five of the last eight sectionals they've lost to either Crispus Attucks or Guerin Catholic. They don't have to worry about Attucks anymore, but Guerin is still a constant obstacle.

Leading the Braves again should be 6'4 Billy Smith (18.3). Smith was a Junior All-State selection last year. He will be joined by four role players from last year; Alex Gothard (4.7), 6'4 Paul Stubblefield (3.4), Zachary Reed (3.4), and Michael Irk (3.1) This group needs to provide more offense to take the pressure off of Smith. In addition to Guerin, Brebeuf's main challenge at the sectional level is likely to be #19 Lebanon.

05_Connersville:
The Connersville Spartans typically aren't the type of team that's going to produce a lot of plays that's going to be on a highlight film. And they currently don't have any players that major colleges are interested in. What they do have is a balanced attack, great coaching and discipline, and a lockdown defense. They were highly successful last year and the outlook is deservedly optimistic for the coming season.

Leading Connersville should be Tobey Billups (8.8, 5-a) and Kaleb Sparks (6.6). Helping them again will be junior Braxton Myers (4.5) , 6'6 Gage Brown (4.1), and junior Josh Williams (3.1).

Connersville will likely have to deal with #7 Greensburg in sectional play. If the y are repeat champions, they'll again encounter a strong regional field possibly consisting of three other ranked squads.

**For those teams ranked in positions 6 through 20, some of their top players are:
